LEADERS’ SUMMIT
Leaders from across the Northern Territory came together for two days to share knowledge, research, and best practices. Henbury Assistant Principal, Raylee Parker, presented at the summit on our NTCET Modified (Year 12 Certificate) journey. Her presentation was well received, and we thank Raylee for her time, expertise, and dedication to building the capacity of other leaders across the NT to provide access to the NTCET Certificate for students with additional needs.
Throughout the year, Raylee also supports Kintore School with their NTCET requirements and mentors leaders from other schools in delivering inclusive senior secondary pathways utilising the NTCET modified.

“Its fun and makes me happy”
“its good and I get to go places”
“I like everything about it”
“I loved Lake Alexander”
“I like the playgrounds”
“I liked the Darwin City”
“I loved Darwin City to see art because I like drawing and sketching”

GREETINGS FROM PURPLE 4
What a fun-filled and delicious couple of weeks we’ve had in Purple 4!
First stop – the kitchen! We baked the yummiest choc chip cookies and whipped up scrumptious chicken pasta salads for our fundraiser lunch. The air was filled with the smell of warm cookies and happy chatter. Everyone had a role – from mixing and chopping to taste-testing (our favourite part!). Seeing the big smiles from our customers made our hearts (and tummies) so happy!

Then came a blast – literally! The senior students visited our class and brought their amazing rocket science experiments with them. They showed us how the rockets worked, and then it was our turn to have a go at setting them off. We counted down together… and WHOOSH – off they went! There were cheers, laughter, and lots of “Did you see that?!” moments.

Purple 4 has been buzzing with teamwork, giggles, and new adventures – and we’re so ready for whatever comes next!
Have a wonderful weekend, from Purple 4 Class.
YELLOW 5
Amongst all the fun and excitement of Pride Day, Careers Expo and Science Day, the students of Yellow 5 have been not-so-quietly working away on their literacy and math skills.
One of our Maths focus areas this term is Measurement for Daily Life. Answering the age-old question of 'Is that new Fridge going to fit in there?' and 'How much salt is actually in a container of salt?' Busting life's myths one at a time.

SCIENCE WEEK
Science Week kicked off with a few light-hearted science jokes:
What do you call a fly stuck in butter? Butterfly!
A plant asks another plant, “Are you hungry?” – “I could use a light snack.”
Buddy Class Science
Students enjoyed hands-on activities with their buddy classes, sparking curiosity and fun.
Speed Science
Hosted by Senior Skillset, Blue 3, and Jordan, Speed Science included 14 simple but exciting experiments such as:
- Flying rockets
- Fizz inflator
- Ant survey
- Wobble bots
- Black holes
- Vortex can
- Frozen fossil
The week ended with a spectacular finale — the traditional watermelon experiment and the famous Mentos and Diet Coke eruption!
Student
“Thrilling and exciting.” – B3 Student
“It was exciting doing the Mentos and Diet Coke experiment.” – Ruby T
“I liked the spinning can.” – Alex
“It was fantastic. Some kids liked cracking the ice to get the fossil out and others used water to melt the ice.” – Marcius
“I liked the fizz inflator.” – Charlie

Henbury Students Shine at NT Track & Field
Some of our amazing Henbury students recently competed in the NT Track and Field event at Marrara Athletics Stadium. We are proud to share that every single student walked away with a medal – a testament to their athletic talent, determination, and commitment to living out our Henbury School values.
A special congratulations goes to Martin Y, who has earned a place on the prestigious NT team – an outstanding achievement!
Congratulations to all of our athletes for their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship. You have made Henbury School proud!

Below is a write up by one of our student participants Mia D.
On Friday and Saturday 22nd and 23rd and of August I competed in the NT track and field championships with a lot of athletes from all over the NT. My events were shot put and javelin and I ran in the100m, 200m, and 400m events.
It was a bit of a buzz to compete with so many other athletes.
In the 200m race I was feeling a bit overwhelmed because the time of my race changed so I had to race earlier. I was feeling a bit shocked by it, but I just took a deep breath and raced. It was ok though because I did place 1st in my category for my race phew! And even better I got a personal best!

2025 PARENT SURVEY
Henbury School values the feedback we receive from our students and families. We welcome and encourage you to share your opinions about our school’s performance, culture, and services by participating in the NT School Survey.
The survey will be open from Week 4 to Week 6 and provides an important opportunity for us to hear from you about your school experience, both for you and your child.
The School Survey is simple and quick to complete — it takes less than 20 minutes. You can participate online or request a printed copy from the front office.
Your feedback will help inform our school about your experiences, highlighting what we are doing well and identifying areas where we can improve.

HENBURY SCHOOL STUDENT EXPLORED OPPORTUNITIES AT THE CAREERS EXPO
On Tuesday, 12 August, some of our Year 10, 11, and 12 students attended the Careers Expo at the Marrara Netball Stadium. The event was an exciting opportunity for students to explore a wide range of career pathways, training options, and further education opportunities.
Students visited stalls hosted by local employers, and community organisations, asking questions, gathering information, and were thinking about their future. They also enjoyed interactive displays and hands-on activities, which gave them an insight into different industries.
It was wonderful to see them so engaged and involved in all the activities at the Expo.
Henbury Precinct
The Henbury Precinct continues to be a popular and vibrant place for students to develop a wide range of work skills, including hospitality, retail, and customer service.
The Henbury Precinct is also a favourite with our local community. Each week, our café serves delicious coffee alongside a variety of specials — from fresh cakes and slices to hearty pies. It’s wonderful to see our students thriving in this hands-on learning environment.
We’d love to see you at the Henbury Precinct:
- Op Shop – Tuesday to Saturday
- Café – Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
VET Courses
Our students are enjoying a wide range of VET courses through Charles Darwin University and Taminmin College. This semester, some exciting new options include:
- Certificate I in Animal Studies
- Certificate I in Bakery
- Certificate I and II in Automotive
These opportunities are helping our students build valuable skills and explore possible career pathways for the future.
